Visit to Noirmoutier

Even during the holidays you have a thirst for discovery.
Your desire to see new horizons is never satisfied.
It's a good thing that you have chosen to stay at Camping Sol à Gogo.
Its location offers great opportunities for sightseeing.

After having ridden the cycle paths of the department,
walked the beaches from one end to the other,
and tried out new experiences,
it's time to set off in the direction of the Ile aux Mimosas...
We advise you to leave early in the morning to be able to enjoy all the aspects of this archipelago.

Leave equipped with :

  • bottle of water
  • cap
  • picnic lunch
  • good shoes
  • beach equipment (towels, swimwear, etc.)

To get to the island of Noirmoutier, you can take the bridge.
But for this experience, we reserve you a much more pleasant crossing.
If the tide is low, you can cross the famous Gois passage.
The reason the tide has to be low is that this road, unique in Europe, is submersible at high tide.
It would be a shame to get trapped by the rising tide.

As you cross the paved road of the Gois, you may see some fishermen with their jeans folded up to their knees.
This is a great place to go fishing on foot.
If you have time during your stay, we advise you to come back to practice this ideal activity to relax.
In front of you, the island is getting bigger and bigger.

On the way to postcard landscapes

Once your crossing is over, you will disembark on Barbâtre.
Here you will travel in the heart of a preserved nature.
You can stop here to breathe deeply and enjoy the calm.

Continue your journey to La Guérinière

Don't miss the small oyster port of Le Bonhomme.
It is always pleasant to walk between the small fishermen's huts.
Some of them offer tastings. What could be better than freshly caught oysters?

Take the car back to l'Épine

This part of the island is the wildest.
Between forests and salt marshes, you will discover exceptional landscapes.
At the bend in the path, you may be lucky enough to see a salt worker harvesting the white gold of Noirmoutier.
We invite you to take a walk in this small corner of the island before taking the road to Noirmoutier-en-l'Île.

That's good, the sound of your stomach reminds you that it's time for lunch.
In Noirmoutier-en-l'Île you will find restaurants of all kinds, but if we had to recommend one it would be "le P'tit Noirmout'".
Its refined cuisine with local and seasonal products will make your taste buds tingle.

But if you prefer a more rural option, the island is full of beautiful places to have a picnic.
Put down your napkin and enjoy your food with a splendid view.
This second option has a more authentic feel that we love!

Once you have finished your meal, we invite you to discover the narrow streets of Noirmoutier.
Its small white houses with blue shutters give a unique charm to the island.
You will love to lose yourself in these steep streets where many small craftsmen offer beautiful objects and products.
It's hard not to fall for a Noirmoutier salt pouch or a little sailor's hat...

A moment of history...

At the bend in an alley, you will see the Noirmoutier castle.
This building stands out in the heart of the town.
